Artists

PBtet – Prague Brass quintet

The Prague Brass Quintet (PBtet) was founded in late 2016 by top brass students at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague under the artistic leadership of Jiří Novotný. The quintet’s greatest success to date was its victory at the 2019 Jeju International Brass & Percussion Competition. They have also won awards at the 2021 Bucharest International Music Competition and at the 2022 OPUS International Music Competition.

The quintet’s members include Walter Hofbauer and Karel Hons on trumpet, Daniela Roubíčková on French horn, Barbora Kolafová on trombone, and Jakub Chmelař on tuba. All of the players are now full-time members of important Czech orchestras, specifically the Czech Philharmonic, the Prague Philharmonia, the Orchestra of the Opera of the National Theatre, and the Orchestra of the State Opera. They appear regularly at festivals in both the Czech Republic and abroad. In early 2021, they issued their debut album entitled JOY under their original name, the Prague BRASStet.
