Frequently Asked Questions
Planning a Visit to the Dvořák Prague Festival?
We've prepared answers to frequently asked questions to help you organize your concert experience.

What to Wear to a Dvořák Prague Festival Concert?
Dvořák Prague is a prestigious cultural event. We recommend dressing appropriately for the occasion:
- Formal evening concerts (e.g., in Rudolfinum) – ideally formal attire (men: suit; women: elegant dress or suit). The dress code is listed in each concert’s details.
- Chamber concerts & matinées – smart casual.
- Open-air concerts & informal events – comfortable yet tasteful clothing.
When Should I Arrive?
We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before the concert starts. This allows enough time for coat check and finding your seat, so you can enjoy the festival atmosphere without rushing.
When Do the Venues and Halls Open?
- Rudolfinum: The building opens 60 minutes before the concert; the hall usually 30 minutes before.
- Other venues may have different opening times. For details, contact us at vstupenky@dvorakovapraha.cz.
What If I Arrive Late?
If you arrive after the concert has started, please wait for guidance from the ushers. Entry to the hall is only possible during an appropriate break between pieces to avoid disrupting the performance.
How Long Is a Concert?
Most concerts last 90 to 120 minutes, including an intermission. The expected duration is listed in each concert’s program details.
How Long Is the Intermission?
Intermissions typically last 20 minutes, allowing time for refreshments, coat check, or simply enjoying the festival atmosphere.
When Is the Right Time to Applaud?
In classical music, it is customary not to applaud between movements of a piece. Applause is appropriate only after the entire composition is finished. When in doubt, follow the conductor’s cues or the audience’s lead.
Can I Take Photos or Record the Concert?
Photography and video recording are not permitted during concerts. Exceptions apply to selected open-air events, where non-professional photos may be allowed. Professional photography is possible only with accreditation.
